How CDA is trying to resolve the parking issues in Islamabad

Cities are hustling to be on top with their business opportunities. But with an opportunity, comes a risk factor or a number of them. Cities are growing rapidly and the concept of urbanization is taking over.

Islamabad is not just a major, well-populated city but the capital of the country with residential, commercial and business related opportunities for locals and the outsiders. Population is growing like a forest’s fire. So is the need to properly settle the always moving traffic system.

Stats are never wrong, 350,000 cars enter the city every day and the same ratio of cars are present within the city, owned by the local residents.

Luckily, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has come up with a strategic plan to resolve the matter as soon as possible. We will be seeing the work starting from the mid of August, this year. The plan is to meet the growing needs of more and more parking spaces in Islamabad.

Multi- Story Parking Plazas

The most chaotic places regarding parking issues in Islamabad are Centaurus mall, Safa gold mall and the premises, Blue area, Jinnah Super, and now i8 markaz. Although they have the parking spaces for every business center yet they are not well planned. The failure of a parking space is the lack of management and pre planning. It is always planned according to the number of shops, offices or the floors in a building.

Usually the basement parking’s are preferred more. They cover less ground space, providing more space to park safely. The trend of basement parking is always considered by big plaza’s and centers with more shops in them.

Capital Development Authority has approved PC-1, CDA is trying to resolve the parking issues to construct 6 multi-story parking plazas to meet the needs of the capital. The constructions are expected to start from the mid of August this year. This is going to be a very strategic and benefitting plan.

Silent Features of Parking Plazas

  • CDA has approved the construction of 6 new plazas and out those 6, 3 of them will be constructed in Blue Area, that can help in accommodating the extended part of New Blue Area too.
  • One of the plaza’s is going be constructed to meet the needs of sector f10.
  • Another one is allotted for the sector F8.
  • Sector i8 is now the emerging business center of Islamabad, to meet the needs of parking space, one of the plazas are going to be constructed here.
  • Each Plaza is going to be a multi- story building with 5-8 floors.
  • Roof tops are allotted specifically for the gardening purpose to keep it close to nature and aesthetically beautiful as a concept.
  • Apart from the parking spaces, plazas would have cinemas, shopping areas and food courts to attract more people.

Every business center has its own parking space, but that is not always enough with the growing needs, more transportation, and busy business centers. The concept of urbanization needs serious new plans and strategies to meet the needs of the current hustling world.

CDA is on a mission to make it happen for the capital of the country. CDA is trying to resolve the parking issues and we can’t wait to see the boom.
